Arlene has been coaching volleyball at Marin Juniors for 30 years, and is the Assistant Coach for the varsity team at Marin Academy. She has coached junior varsity and varsity teams at six high schools throughout Marin County throughout her coaching career including: Branson, Sir Francis Drake High, Redwood High, Marin Catholic, and Terra Linda High School.
Arlene's success as a coach stems from her enthusiasm, strong focus on volleyball fundamentals, and ability to teach mental toughness to players. She engages players to think about mental, emotional, and physical conditioning as it relates to their growth as a volleyball player and in their lives. Regardless of competitive circumstances, players are taught how to consistently perform towards the upper range of their talent and skill.
Arlene started playing volleyball while attending the College of Marin. Within her first season, she was nominated team captain and ran her team's offense as a Setter. She continued to deepen her knowledge and love for volleyball by avidly watching players and games, and then would find a net and try the skills out for herself. After college she competed in grass doubles tournaments for the next two decades.
Arlene loves watching football and traveling. She has a personal goal to visit two new places a year during off season.
There is no such thing as trying. You either do it or you don't. Either you will or you won't.
