Marin Juniors has one of the most experienced and diverse coaching staffs of any club, anywhere. The average experience of our head coaches is over twelve years and we feature high school varsity coaches from all over the area. We represent many different high schools and have coached at all levels - from local CYO programs to state championship high schools, from local colleges to National High Performance teams competing internationally.

We are teachers, engineers, entrepreneurs, architects, students and lawyers. The one thing we all share is our love for the sport and the dedication to get teams to compete at the highest levels, and to help teach young players life lessons through volleyball.

Led by club director, Craig Wong, the 2017 coaching staff returns many head coaches from last season and have added some fantastic new coaches to the program.

PHILOSOPHY

It is amazing what individuals can accomplish with desire and effort, and never underestimate the power of teams that fully believe and trust in each other.  Good and bad things will always happen -  celebrate success and take responsibility for setbacks. Never be satisfied, be very afraid of being mediocre. And enjoy the people and the little things along the way.

WHEN NOT ON THE SIDELINES...

Craig is probably on the other sideline, watching, camera in hand, capturing those funny, fleeting moments or just enjoying the action. Otherwise likely outside, fishing, hiking or snowboarding.

WHAT PLAYERS SAY

"...thank you so much for everything you've done. You inspire me to work so hard but somehow its always fun."
"I have done sports my whole life and had so many coaches, but I can honestly say you're the best coach I've ever had...thank you so much for a great season"
"thanks for an unforgettable season. You were the most patient and effective coach I've had"
"Craig does a very good job in communicating with the team, when off and on the court. He talks to us about everything and really communicates what he wants from and what he sees from us. He does a very good job in telling us exactly what to do which i think helps us. Craig knows that we can be a great team, so he pushes us and always wants to the best out of us which is great! Craig is awesome!!"
"My coach is very patient with are team, and let us try to fix are own mistakes before helping us. I think this makes the players smarter on the court. By fixing their own mistakes they can learn to be more of their own individual. And make them more confident. Also Craig makes you realize that you want more of a challenge, because that is how you learn to get better"

WHAT PARENTS SAY

"you have added so much to her life as a mentor, teacher and friend.  She has been lucky, so lucky to have you these past few years."
"I have never seen any coach so composed and supportive of their team. Thank you for finding a way to challenge and inspire my daughter without screaming at them"
"Took time to discuss with our daughter her preferred coaching style and then adopted this through the season. Gave lots of positive feedback and constructive criticism.  He was very approachable and helped with scheduling conflicts."
"Craig expects a lot from the girls. He is like a quiet storm. The girls take him seriously and realize that he applies himself, 100%, to his job as a coach and role model."
"Craig has a gentle, but firm coaching style.  I think that the girls respond to his coaching without feeling intimidated.  I know that, because my daughter likes and respects him, she tries hard to listen to and execute his suggestions.  I think that Craig's "1 on 1" evaluations and talks have helped my daughter want to achieve a higher level of playing."
