Jenna Godinez is the assistant coach for the girls’ varsity team at Gateway High School in San Francisco, and she started with Marin Juniors in 2015. She has coached high school and club volleyball for four years since her graduation from UC Santa Cruz, where she played right side for the Banana Slugs. While attending Santa Cruz, Jenna received a student athlete scholar award for three consecutive years.

She is the Youth and Teen Program Director for the Embarcadero YMCA, which provides quality programs to underserved communities. She brings her youth development lens to her coaching, focusing on the whole player.

Jenna's favorite position is the right side because: "I can set when I want, and I also get to crush the ball on a great back set."

Personal Statement

"When you first meet me, I will charm you with my bubbly nature and kind heart, but never mistake that for weakness. On the court, I am a warrior, fighting for my win, doing whatever it takes to get the last point, and walking away with my heart, my sweat, and my tears on that court. I coach and teach discipline.... I am an unstoppable force on the court and I demand to be seen and heard. Other teams WILL know our name."
