Rea Arechandieta (“Arrr-etch-ahn-dyet-ah”) got hooked on volleyball while attending college at San Diego State, and made the the Australian National University’s volleyball team while studying abroad.
Since college Rea has been in the Bay Area working in the non-profit arena, giving back to her community and supporting the city’s most vulnerable populations. She has coached volleyball for six years at the elementary, middle school and high school levels, and has served as a middle school athletic director. Rea believes that athletics provides the opportunity to learn the process of high level achievement - work ethic, perseverance, growth mindset, and resilience.
Rea currently attends the University of San Francisco , where she is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Urban Education and Social Justice. She also teaches PE for the SF Unified School District.
What is Rea’s definition of success? “Giving it your all and leaving your heart on the court!”
“Whether you think you CAN, or you think you CAN'T, you're right."
